The Proof Is In The Resurrection

Bottom line: The proof that Jesus is who He says He is and will do what He says He will do is the resurrection.

It is interesting to note that the enemies of Jesus (religious rulers, chief priests, etc.) remembered that Jesus said he would die and be raised the third day. They heard Him but didn't believe Him. Even after the soldiers who had been guarding the tomb came with their amazing story of an angel and an earthquake and an empty tomb, the religious leaders refused to believe that Jesus did what He had said He would do - rise from the dead.

Disbelief in Jesus is never an intellectual problem. It is a problem of the will. People refuse to accept and believe in Jesus because they don't want to. Belief is Jesus is not the result of "seeing" proof. Belief in Jesus is our response to God revealing truth.

The resurrection of Jesus is the ultimate proof that Jesus is who He says He is. But you don't have to see the resurrection to believe in the resurrection. "Seeing" isn't believing. Faith is our response of trust in the truth that God has revealed. God has revealed the truth of the resurrection many times over (cf. Acts 1:3). The question raised by Jesus' resurrection is, "Will I or will I not believe?" It is not, "Can I believe or can I not believe?" Belief in Jesus is a matter of the will not the intellect.
